Thought for the Week

'E' is for ...

ELEPHANT

I don't know where my love of elephants came from, but somewhere, sometime, somehow, I grew very fond of them. I think they are just so big, strong and so amazingly powerful, yet they look so calm and soft-hearted and docile. Almost like they are being very modest about just how strong they are.

This collection of 'Tuskers' and 'Henrys' has grown over the years, and now totals somewhere in the region of 100 as a guestimate. They have been given to me for birthdays and christmas' by family and each one comes with it own name!

I have stopped physically collecting them now, since I have run out of room to display them, but it doesn't stop me looking at them in the jewellers window everytime I walk by.

woww, you have hundred+. You should have a picture with wide angle to catch 99 of them. A great collection to see the seven in your photo.

Ali said...

Hin Man ~ I did take a shot of the unit that they are displayed in, but they were too small to see!

In Ink ~ thx honey.

And they're so smart, and loyal too. Perhaps the elephant is your totem animal. It's nice to have a collection of treasures like yours.

Ali said...

Annie ~Totem animal? What is one of those, or am I being dense here (Mike... shut it!! lol)

I do adore them, and I don't even mind having to dust them!!!!

Mr Mapper ~ You are welcome, it's always good to hear of another participant in ABC Wednesday.

Avcr8teur ~ Thx, I saved you from all the others!!! The collage idea, I have to admit, I stole from Walksfarwoman

Ali said...

Jean ~ Thanks for popping over, very clever use of a few more 'e's there too, and welcome again to ABC Wednesday.

David ~ Thanks honey, and finally and original, 'elephant' related comment!!

Bidarlah ~ I have never ridden one. I am too fond of them to want to see them in any more domesticated situation than a zoo. Would love to go on safari one day and see them in the wild though.

Ali said...

Paddy ~ I did already, replied by email sweetie, and thx for taking the time. x

Akelamalu said...

What a lovely collection you have, they're gorgeous

Dan said...

Elephants are awesome for the very reasons you described. I particularly like their calmness ... unless they are mistreated and go on a rampage, but then they're still doing what they have to do. :)

Hugs Ali!

Ali said...

Dan ~ They are very calm aren't they, almost serene.

Hugs x

I bought my friend an Elephant once. And then about 12 months later, I was helping her move house and carrying a load of rubbish to the tip.

Yep, it was in there :(

When you've replied to this, you will have 4o comments on here. How about that, Miss Popular! xx

Ali said...

Laney ~ Awww how awful you must have felt to see that. I'd have given it a good home.

This ABC Wednesday has certainly increased my circle of friends, I love it.
