In the Garden
G went off this morning to play golf and I was sat here feeling subdued. I had a lot to say, but no words to convey any of it.
The weather was glorious, so I wandered into the garden and I could hear the bees busily collecting pollen from various flowers and shrubs. I grabbed my camera, put the long lens on and went on the hunt for said bees.
With a severe lack of words, I leave you with the results of my garden wanderings:
I photographed this yellow buddleja globosa for the "B is for ..." entry, but I wasn't happy with the photo and settled for bark. this one is much more interesting, if I had captured this i could have had "B is for ... Bee and Buddleja"!
This plant came in a packet of mixed seeds I got as a freebie for ordering from a plant catalogue. The seeds were varied and unlabelled. This one is gorgeous, I have grown it from the seed, and every year, without fail, it erupts into flower. Can anyone tell me what it is called?

Holy moly! You take GREAT photos!! Can you come to my house and show me how to do that? lol Wow. Gorgeous!
Being a great lover of insect photos I love these. I'm not sure what your flower is, I wonder if it's some form of cornflower...any chance of a photo of the leaves?
Wow. These are stunning Ali. x
Sorry Ali, I just asked my wife about the flower ("Can anyone tell me what it is called?")she's a qualified gardener, and even she has no idea. I may as well be looking into a bush, but I do like the photos - very nice, you must have a very beautiful garden.
Beautiful weather here too in Finland...into the 30's for the last two weeks...swimming in the lake everyday.

Leigh ~ If you're buying the plane ticket I would love to swing by your house and show you.x
Ruth ~ Yes, now you mention it, it could be a type of cornflower. It is not quite the same as the ones I used to have in the garden, but it is similar. The bit underneath the petals (sorry, no clue about names of parts of plants), the bit that holds them all in.. lol ... is papery to touch, like dried flowers. I will photograph that and the leaves, which form a small cluster of long thin greenery, but the flowers tower way above them.
Laney ~ Thankyou honey. X
Paddy ~ I have a lovely sized garden Paddy, unfortunately it has been totally neglected, as has the greenhouse this year because I was so under pressure with college stuff when I should have been seed planting. Not even and vegetables this year :o(, just my cherries, plums and raspberries because they almost look after themselves!!
PS: "life is a bowl of cherries .........life is a cabaret.
What am I on about...it must be the pollen on your blog today?
"You can take all the tea in china
Put it in a big brown bag for me
Sail right around the seven oceans
Drop it straight into the deep blue sea
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Shes an angel of the first degree
Shes as sweet as tupelo honey
Just like honey from the bee"

Fantastic pics Ali, I love bees!
Paddy ~ Apologies for the excess pollen honey and thx for the verse.
Pauline ~ Thank you. I have to admit, that out of all the photography I have done, sports and macro flora are my alltime favourites. The bees and fly's especially come out so clear close up.
Lady Banana ~ Thx for dropping in, I'm glad you like the photo's. Come back soon.
I was just going to suggest Ruth, she knowa her flowers!
Well my head is buzzing.......well it would after an afternoon at the British Superbikes! LOL! What bike does your hubby have?
Dxx
Denise ~ Ruth is on the case already!!lol So, how were the superbikes? I told G you were going, he's dead jealous too!
He has a Yamaha 1100 V-Star, which is an american import of the Dragstar, and he says it is the poor mans Harley, which is his dream!!
I did photograph it earlier today, but may hold it back for 'V is for...'. There is a snap of it however in my 'Out on the Bike' entry under the labels 'Photos' in my sidebar.
Very impressive photos! You must have a very close focusing lens.
There's something very suggestive about all those bee photos. (Leave it to me to mention it, eh?)
Cherrie ~ I started with a long lens so that I could zoom in real close without having to be too close, it gives a great blurred background that way, but then I tried using my standard 50mm lens and got wayyyyyy closer than I normally would to a bee!!
We can always rely on you Cherri!
Hey.........guess who I bumped into....John Reynolds! HEy got the pic!
Dxx
You're getting far to good at this photo taking malarkey!
Denise ~ You name dropper you, I want photo's
Mike ~ lol, thx honey, I have to keep practising to match yours! G... now what am I gonna do for that?? hmmm
Ali - I'm absolutely in envy of your 'camera eye' - you are amazingly good. You should sell these on PhotoBox or somewhere similar, they'd make beautiful cards and notelets.
WFW ~ Oh my goodness, what a compliment, I thank you. I was really pleased with the result of these, but I am not always so good at achieving what my mind sees.
I would love to be in photography for a living, and close-up work really thrills me.
